August Monday here was as great as ever

August Monday here was the greatest this year.
There were large crowds on the road behind each band, from the valley all the way to Sandy Ground. The day was will fill activities ranging from street jam to fashion show.

The usual amazing number of boats and people from St. Maarten and rounding islands were also in force, with the boats anchored at the northern end of the beach where a stage had been erected and where the performances took place.

The main boat race was won by Miss Anguilla, closely followed by UFO, Real Deal, Light and Peace and Bluebird. Thirteen A Cl*** boats participated in the race, which finished around 6:00pm.

In the B Cl*** race the winner was Alma Gloria of St. Maarten, followed by The Storm of Anguilla. In third place was Damage of St. Maarten.

The day’s other live entertainment included performances by Zouk Sensation K***av, Crazy of Trinidad and Tobago, Anguilla’s and several local artistes. Hundreds of people from Anguilla and St. Maarten were on the beach enjoying the music, the food and the drinks and dancing.

Security was higher than ever but not needed as none of the expected fighting took place. This year was plague with the anticipation of retaliation for all the useless shooting that target one area of of our peaceful land, The Royal Anguilla Police Force having installed special surveillance cameras and using police dogs and helicopter, there were also extra lights after sundown. No incidents were reported up to time of this post.
