Some people might think that our life changes have been decided by our work, yet we never planned on being in the restaurant business, the mail order business or the specialty food business. Our new business ideas have always evolved from a desire to change our lives—and the decision to live our lives with p***ion came first. Of course, we needed to act on those dreams in order to make them come true. We yearned for new experiences and new relationships. Starting a ski racing supply company came about because we loved the idea of connecting with our son and his ski team. It brought us closer together. We opened a restaurant in the Caribbean after deciding that we wanted to experience life in a foreign country and taking the appropriate action steps to turn our dream into reality.

Your past experiences and everything you´ve learned from this book are now part of your education. Think of it as your undergraduate coursework. No matter how young or old you are, you´ve learned dozens of lessons that will help you take control of what lies ahead. Now it´s time for you to use everything you´ve learned to produce an Action Plan that will propel you forward.

We would never say that changing course is easy. None of us can simply do whatever we want. What we are saying is that you can create a life you love if you take some kind of action. You need to get started. We know that circumstances beyond one´s control alter dreams and affect choices. But that doesn´t mean you should ever say "I could never do that" or "I can´t afford to make a change." If you remain flexible, you´ll find ways to adjust your dream to come up with a realistic plan of action. Even slight adjustments can make major impacts on your life. Remember that it isn´t always necessary to start all over again. Once you accept that, there´s a whole world of new experiences waiting for you. Living a life filled with p***ion and energy is a choice that only you can make. And you can act now.

Nothing can compare to the thrill that comes with starting something new, and as you set out on a new course, you´ll feel energized and engaged, your mind will be fresh and alert, and your senses ready for action. You´ll be eager to see, listen, learn, taste, and feel everything that life has to offer.

It´s unlikely that your path is going to be entirely smooth, so it´s important to know how to deal with mistakes, failures, and other setbacks. They really aren´t as scary as you think if you know how to use them properly and understand how they can help you down the road. You can learn how to turn obstacles into learning opportunities instead of allowing them to bring you down.
