MINISTER OF FINANCE ATTENDS ECCB MONETARY COUNCIL MEETING – 1ST TIME AFTER A 7 - YEAR BREAK
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Dr. Keith Mitchell is attending the 59th meeting of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Monetary Council, in
Anguilla. This meeting is an historic one for Prime Minister Mitchell, since this is the first meeting of this sort that he is attending in the capacity of Minister of Finance, Grenada , since taking over the portfolio after a break of seven years.
The 59th meeting of the ECCB Monetary Council is being convened in keeping with the conclusions of the 58th monetary council meeting.
At the meeting discussions will focus mainly on the Governor’s report to the monetary council on monetary and credit conditions, ratification of appraisal – project distribution policy, appointment of Governor as Governor/alternate Governor to the IMF for St. Lucia.
In addition, the meeting was preceded by a brief ceremony to mark the handing over of chairmanship of the Council from Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Victor Banks, Minister of Finance,
Anguilla.
