St. Kitts and Nevis pays homage to dead of World Wars on Sunday - SKNVibes.com

B***ETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 2007 (CUOPM) – The men of St. Kitts-Nevis and Anguilla who gave their lives in World Wars One and Two will be remembered on Sunday 11th November.
The traditional Remembrance Day Service will be held at the War Memorial in B***eterre conducted by the St. Kitts Evangelical ***ociation and the St. Kitts Christian Council.

The Service begins at 8 A.M. with the firing of a gun, a two-minute silence and the playing of the Last Post.

Members of the Legion of Ex-Servicemen and the Salvation Army will participate in the Service as well as contingents of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and the Cadet Corp as well as representatives of uniformed bodies.

St. Kitts and Nevis Governor General, His Excellency Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian; Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, the President of the Ex-Servicemen’s Legion, the Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the Commissioner of Police, the Fire Chief as well as Representatives of the St. Kitts Nurses ***ociation, the St. Kitts Red Cross, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, Girl Guides, Boys’ Brigade; 4-H, Seventh Day Adventist Pathfinders, Traffic Wardens, Project Strong and members of the general public.

Following the singing of “Oh God Our Help in Ages Past,” names of the men who gave their lives in World War One (1914-1918 and World War Two
(1939-1945) will be read, the Benediction will be said, the Reveille played and the National Anthem sung.
